A trail is a ready-made route through interesting places – the graves of well-known people, landmarks, hidden corners of towns. The Stopy v srdci mobile app takes you from one place to the next, shows you the way and at each stop shows you what you will find there. You do not have to study anything in advance or search for anything, the app guides you step by step.

What a trail actually is

Imagine going for a walk – through a Prague cemetery, say, where composers, writers and actors you know from films and books lie at rest. On your own you might walk past without knowing who is buried where. With a trail it is different: your phone guides you to the first grave and shows you which way to go. At the grave you learn who lies there and what made them exceptional. Then it sends you on to the next one. And so on, until you have walked the whole trail.

You do not have to be good with phones or spend time entering anything. The app does the work for you – it shows an arrow and the way, like the navigation in a car, only on foot. You just look around you and get to know places you would otherwise simply walk past.

Why the trails came about

Our app has always helped people find the grave of a loved one and preserve the memory of those who have gone. Over time we found that cemeteries and town streets hide a great many stories that deserve to be told – the graves of well-known people, places bound up with history, corners we walk past every day without noticing.

We created the trails so that these stories would not stay forgotten. So that a family can go out at the weekend and learn something on the way. So that a teacher can take a class outside and turn history into an experience. So that a visitor to an unfamiliar town discovers what an ordinary guidebook does not contain. We wanted discovery to be easy and natural – so that you simply set out and the app takes care of the rest.

How you walk a trail – step by step

You download the app to your phone

The Stopy v srdci app is free for both iPhone and Android. You download it from the app store like any other – just tap the button below. You do not even have to sign up.

You choose a trail

In the app you will find a list of trails. You choose by town and theme. For each one you will see how many stops it has, how long it is and how much time it takes. The stops appear on the map so that you know where the route goes.

You set out

The app guides you to the first stop – it shows an arrow and the distance, much like navigation in a car. When you arrive it tells you so and shows information about the place. Then it sends you on to the next stop. You walk at your own pace, you can rest whenever you like or come back another time.

On some trails you complete tasks

Educational and competitive trails can include small tasks – a question you find the answer to right there, for example. You earn points for completing them. The tasks are optional, so you can simply walk the trail and look around.

Frequent questions

Yes, the trails are walked in the mobile app, which you download to your phone (iPhone or Android). The app uses a map and your position so that it can guide you to the individual stops.

Both the app and walking the trails are free. You download it from the app store with no fees at all and without having to sign up.

No. The app is made so that anyone can manage it. Once you have chosen a trail it guides you by itself – it shows an arrow and the way. You do not have to set up or enter anything complicated.

You do not. You walk at your own pace, you can rest whenever you like, take a break or come back to the trail another time. The app remembers how far you got.
